Google's New Built-In Malware Scanner For Android Devices

It hardly takes a minute to put any malicious Android application on Google Play Store as it doesn’t requires any long-term approval process just like Apple’s. This can give birth to various security concerns among the masses who frequently like being updated with latest apps available on Android store. Finally Google has been reported to develop a built-in malware scanner for the Android devices in its upcoming versions of Android after 4.1. Jelly Bean.

According to the blog published on Google’ Play Store, the malware scanner is likely to have to many security options like pop-up windows asking for the permission from Google to check all the installed apps on the running device for any risky element and alert windows to provide awareness related to install a certain app.

“Bouncer” an anti–malware system, launched in the beginning of this year was intended to filter out malicious apps as well provided awareness to the developers for the risk likely to exist with their apps. The new built-in “App check” feature however emphasizes on alerting the end-users while installing any unauthentic application.

This is a commendable precautionary step that Google has taken recently, as many criticisms had been raised in the past by the users and security agents like FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) for the malware programs such as Loozfon and FinFisher spyware, specifically aimed at hacking a mobile device and stealing of critical information.

The need for developing a malware scanner for Android devices should have been realized by Google earlier however, it is better being late than never. I hope this would turn as a plus point to Google’s services without causing any bafflement to the end users while installation process.
