How To Jailbreak iOS 6 Using Redsn0w 0.9.15b1

Now users can enjoy the most of iOS 6 even on their older generation sets with the new launch of Redsnow 0.9.15b1 jail-breaking utility. This tethered jailbreak can be executed on various iDevices specifically having A4 (as well as its ancestors) based processors that may include iPhone 4, iPod touch 4th gen and iPhone 3GS. Here are some basic steps to install this convenient jailbreak on to your iDevices.

While you start with the jailbreaking process, firstly you need to download Redsn0w’s 0.9.15b1 update for A4 based processors. You can easily get the OS compatible versions matching your needs over the web. One thing that should be kept in mind while downloading it, is that this version only works on the older iDevices and it is NOT compatible with the latest ones such as iPhone 5, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPhone 4S or the latest iPod touch.

  1. Switch off your iPhone or any other older iOS device and get it connected to your computer.
  2. Reload Redsn0w by running as “Administrator” if using Windows. For those who are using OS X, they need to right click their screen and select “Open” to load “Outside Gatekeeper”.
  3.  Now select “Jailbreak”, enable the checkbox to install Cydia. Head towards DFU mode while the setup requests to hold the Power for 3 seconds. Continue to hold Power while holding Home for 5 seconds simultaneously. Set the Power free but keep the home pressed for additional 15 seconds.
  4. RedSn0w will get initiated and the installation process would get started. Check for the “Auto boot” option to boot tethered soon after the installation ends.
  5. iPhone will restart jailbroken and finally you would find Cydia on the Home Screen.

This jailbreak will allow you to use your favorite jailbreak tweaks on iOS 6 as well.
