How To Force OTA Updates On Your Android Phone

Are you bored of checking OTA updates consecutively for your Android phone? Well here’s something useful that I just found out for you. As Google frequently releases its updates to Android after every six month, it is quite irritating to wait due to the sluggish launch of its updates across various regions.

Another interesting method that I just found out to check for the system updates is very simple and less tiring than heading down to “Settings > About > System Update” method to check the latest OTA update available.

  1. After going through the prior method, Just navigate to Settings > Apps.
  2. You will be able to see a list mentioning all the apps. Just Scroll down the sequential list to “Google Services Framework”.
  3. Open the menu and simply tap “Clear Data”.
  4. Soon after it, tap “Force Stop”.
  5. Now check for the System Update using the previous method. You should be able to see the recent update. If not, then try the method again.

Encouraging response has been recorded by many Android users, who tried out this method. However, few of them had to go through the method repeatedly before the indication of any update. This is obvious, as the explained method will only work if an OTA update is actually available for your device. The process of getting the update will vary depending on the android set that you are carrying. For those who are waiting for Android Jelly Bean update on their Samsung Galaxy S III set, there are greater chances of getting the rolled out update first as compared to the other users using different android phone.
