Top 5 Ways That Help You Save Your PC From Tracking and Monitoring

While the world has been revolutionized with various useful inventions, technology advancement has opened up the ways for many intruders and hackers. One may now easily access your computer without making any physical use of it. Here are top 5 interesting methods to save your computer from being accessed illegally by an intruder.

Scan your computer

First and foremost, an easy way to figure out if any malicious program has been installed by someone on your system is scanning your computer via various anti-virus and anti- malware programs. You can also perform offline scanning of your system to check if there is any hidden application installed by an intruder to track you through it.

Clean or Repair your operating System
Another useful method to stop the illegal intrusion is to reinstall your windows or repair it. Clean installation erases all the system data and lets you start from the scratch. On the other hand, repair install lets you to refresh your operating system, while maintaining all of your data files and system programs. Both options are useful to restrict the intrusion however, clean install would be safer as it provides a fresh installation of your system files.

Refresh Wireless Router
A common way to access another’s computer goes via wireless routers. Wireless routers are not as secured as we think about them. One can easily get connected to your computer if you haven’t taken any appropriate security measures such as setting strong password to your router. Other than setting passwords, you can also refresh your wireless router through the reset button on your router, in order to reset all the DNS settings which would consequently remove all the changes possibly done by the tracker. You can also secure your network using AES, WPA2 or TKIP.

Use Anti-Keyloggers
Most likely, intruders may install a keylogger program that listens and waits for any data to be sent from the hacked computer. For this purpose, you should always use different networks while working on multiple instances for example, try to use different network for your PC and a different one for your laptop. Other than this you can try some of the anti-logger programs that are available on the web. This might not seem useful to some people but it can be taken as a preventive measure.

Check Startup Programs
Whenever you install some third party software it also installs some trashy toolbars and malicious software which may cause a lot of trouble for you. More importantly these programs run every time when your system boot up so they are always running in your system behind the scene, eating your memory and maybe monitoring you as well. However, you can easily control and see which programs are configured in your startup using the “msconfig” command. Simply uncheck the particular strange item and delete it too, this will also help you to reduce the booting time of your PC too.
