Sector is the logical unit of file storage on a hard disk. Actually sector is a subdivision of a track on a hard disk, while track is a circular path on a disk that stores magnetic information. Each sector has a defined storage capability that is 4096 bytes (4KB) nowadays in latest disks; whereas older disks had cluster size of 512 bytes or 2048 bytes.
