Note: This method is only compatible with some Galaxy S II variants only and most importantly Galaxy S II LTE devices are not supported at all, so proceed with extreme caution.
Procedure:
Step # 01: In order to connect your Samsung Galaxy S II with the computer, you need to download the Kies application from the Samsung Apps Website. This application contains all the required USB drivers and other setup files that will allow you to connect your Galaxy S II with PC.
Step # 02: Install the Kies application on your PC with the already defined instructions placed in the Kies folder.
Step # 03: Now you need to download the Odin – a small application from here, which will be required later on during the procedure to flash the Ice Cream Sandwich to the device.
Step # o4: Navigate to the Settings > Applications > Developmen > USB Debugging to enable the USB Debugging mode on Galaxy S II.
Step # 05: Head over to this link to download the Android 4.0.3 firmware file. This weight of this file is 300MB and it will be a ZIP file. Once download finished, extract the contents of the file to a folder.
Step # 06: From here the actual procedure will be start, open the Odin and click on the button labeled as PDA. Now navigate to the Ice Cream Sandwich files and locate the file with .md5 extension.
Step # 07: Now power off the Samsung Galaxy S II, and then turn on the device again by pressing the power, volume down, and home buttons at a same time. At this moment a warning sign will appear on the screen to go back to the normal mode, but in case if you don’t want then simply press the volume up button to enter into the download mode of the device.
Step # 08: Connect your device with the PC using the USB cable, now again go the Odin application and see whether it detect a connected device. Be patient in step, but if you don’t see any connection after some time, then you need to perform the step # 02 again.
Step # 09: Once the Odin detected a connection, click on the button labeled as a Start in the Odin, which will be placed below the Control Panel to finish the process.
This is it, now your Galaxy S II should be running on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
